It's Christmas!!
December 19, 2011 - 11:58pmWell, we are down to our last few orders to send off here at Dojo. Our Ecoshop has now closed until 2012 and the workshop is slowing down. We re-open on Saturday 7th January 2012. We are looking forward to some rest and relaxation alongside some feasting and merriment!
It's the end of another busy year (our 21st!) for which we'd like to thank all our customers both old and new and wish everyone a contented Christmastime and a bright New Year! Sarah & Jonathan.
Winter Closing
October 22, 2011 - 12:47pmWe are approaching our winter closing times. When the clocks change and the daylight shortens we close a little earlier on a Saturday so that we don't have to do all our deliveries in the dark! We have also found that people rarely venture out to our shop after 4 in the winter. So from Saturday 5th November our opening times will be 10 - 4 (rather than 5). Fridays remain as 10 - 5. Additionally we will be completely closed on Saturday 26th November as we are on an aikido tutor training day.
September Closing
August 31, 2011 - 7:59pmAikido Camp
June 17, 2011 - 1:11pmBack Home
June 3, 2011 - 5:12pmDojoEco is back from holiday! We started back in the workshop today and our shop is open 10 - 5 as usual Fridays and Saturdays. We opened up the back doors of the workshop today and let the sun flood in - Manchester is going to be the hottest place in the UK today! Joy!
We have had a fine time camping in Italy for a month and found great food (and espresso!), people, architecture, landscapes, beaches, history and hiking. Highlights were Elba and Genoa. Elba, where we stayed for 12 nights and spent most of that time exploring the island on foot as it’s small enough to walk from one side to the other and much of it is a national park with a comprehensive network of hiking trails. Genoa for its contrast of vibrant city buzz and labyrinthine old quarter - the largest medieval city in Europe.
People often ask us how we can take a month off and it’s true, it does take quite a bit of arranging, lots of extra work beforehand and some patience from customers too, but it’s wonderful to have the chance to deeply unwind, dream and idle and come back with fresh perspective and energy - long may it last!
Annual Shutdown
March 29, 2011 - 11:16pmWe are rapidly heading towards our annual May shutdown. This year we have two other closures that are bookending our big shutdown - Easter before it and an Aikido seminar at the end. This means we will be closing on Wednesday the 20th of April and won’t be re-opening until Friday the 3rd of June. We aren’t closing for any longer than normal, it’s just that it’s all coming in one go...
If you are thinking of making an order soon for something that has to be made up in our workshop, like a mattress or futon, rather than just taken from stock, then keep these dates in mind as the closer we get to the 20th the less manufacturing slots we will have. Orders are currently taking about 10 days to make up.
If you aren’t in a hurry but want to get ahead of the rush when we re-open in June then let us know before we close and we will put your order into our schedule for the first couple of weeks back - normally we ask for a 20% deposit on ordering but we won’t expect any payments before we are back and open again.
Seasonal Closing
December 18, 2010 - 11:42amI’m writing this on our last shop day of the year. The woodburner is chomping away at a rapidly diminishing pile of logs and through the back window the buddleia is bowed with snow. Orchestra Baobab are bringing a welcome sunny blast of tunes from the workshop.
All our manufacturing slots are full now so we can’t fit in any more bespoke orders like mattresses and futons, but we have one more despatch day for other items (Tuesday 21st December), although stocks are quite low after a Christmassy rush. We will be completely closed from then until the shop and workshop re-open on 7th January 2011. Although we can’t make up any goods until then we are already starting to pencil orders of mattresses and futons into the workshop schedule in the new year, so if you do know that you want something sharpish then it is worth letting us know by email before then.
In the meantime we’d like to wish everyone a warm festive time and a bright 2011!
Saturday Closing
October 9, 2010 - 12:36pmJust a quick reminder for people who haven't been in touch or in the shop recently, we will be closed on Saturday 16th October all day as we will all be at an Aikido instructors meeting. Sorry to disappoint anyone who was hoping to call in...
Nobody Home
September 2, 2010 - 1:29pmOur workshop is closed for a week from Sunday 12th until Sunday 19th of September. This means our shop will be closed too, so please don’t call in to see us on Friday and Saturday 17th and 18th of September! Aikido classes will continue as usual.
Back To School
July 21, 2010 - 10:16pmWe’re going back to school next week! We are off to an Aikido summer camp for a week down in Andover. Classes start at 7.30 am so it’s not as if we are taking time off again...
However it does mean that we will be closed for a week from Sunday 25th July to Saturday 31st July and since our ‘weekend’ is a Sunday - Monday the workshop won’t actually be re-opening until Tuesday 3rd August. Note that our EcoShop will be closed Friday 30th and Saturday 31st July.
