Natural and Organic Mattress

Categories:

Our mattresses are handmade with organic and natural materials in our Manchester workshop. We use traditional fillings to make naturally sprung mattresses that are metal free and don’t contain any nasty fire retardants. The organic cotton fabric is double seamed for strength and sewn with side panels to keep the shape. The fillings are layered into a thick organic wool wrap for comfort and excellent temperature and moisture regulation. Finally the mattress is hand tufted to keep the filling in place.
We source our organic cotton fabric from Turkey and Egypt to minimise transport impact and buy our wool direct from British organic farms before sending it to be cleaned by a Soil Association certified process. We only use natural latex, without added fillers, from selected plantations and tested for any harmful chemicals (Oko-Tex 100) Latex is the sap tapped from the rubber tree and gives the mattress elasticity whilst still allowing air to circulate. A core of coconut fibre coated with pure latex keeps the centre of the mattress springy and ventilated.
Our mattresses comply with BS 5852 Part1 & 2 and BS 7177 for fire safety.
We should point out, since a few people have asked, that our mattresses aren't usually split in two (unless specially made) it's just that the one in the picture is the one in our shop which is the firm/hard sort on one side and the firm/springy on the other so they can both be tried out!
